This recall involves Dearlomum retractable mesh safety gates, sold in black, gray, and white. The gates have a metal frame and measure approximately 33 inches in height, with an adjustable width of up to 55 inches. “Retractable Safety Gate” and model number “SH20.006D” are printed on a white label on the side of the gate.

The recalled gates, announced on July 10, 2025, violate the federal standard for expansion gates and expandable enclosures because a child’s torso can fit through the opening between the gate and the floor, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to an entrapment hazard ⁽¹⁾ . 

Approximately 2,200 units of this gate were affected. They were sold on Amazon between December 2024 and May 2025 for between $33 and $38. Consumers are advised to discontinue use of the product and contact the company for a refund.

The mandatory safety standard for gates and enclosures, codified under 16 CFR Part 1239, states that openings in safety gates must be small enough so a child’s head or body cannot fit through and get stuck ⁽²⁾.

Products that don’t meet these criteria violate federal law and are usually recalled to protect consumers.
