Your baby’s development begins this week even though your pregnancy started two weeks ago, during this week a new life is gradually forming by cluttering of cells, your sense of smell may be elevated by a rapid increase in your hormone level which is one of the early symptoms of pregnancy.
Your fertilized egg, now known as a blastocyst, reaches your uterus in around four days. It then takes a further two to three days for implantation to take place.
Despite the fact that you probably won’t find out the gender of your unborn baby for another 14 weeks, sex is determined at the time of fertilization.
There is an embryo! Your fetus is still just a collection of developing cells. It’s size is similar to that of a chia seed.

In the third week of your pregnancy, Fertilization must have taken place when the winning sperm meets with your matured egg cell in the Fallopian tube during ovulation, and this is the first step in your baby’s development.
A zygote is formed and begins to divide into a solid ball of cells as it moves down through the Fallopian tube, after a few days of division, the ball of the cell is now called a blastocyst which then moves down to the lining of your uterus and begins to implant and grow into the wall of your uterus for the next 9 months, this normally takes up to 6 days after fertilisation before implantation takes place.
Fraternal or non identical Twins
If you are having fraternal twins, during week 3, there will be 2 zygotes which are formed when different sperm fertilized two eggs during ovulation, these twins will not be identical and they could be of different sex because they come from different zygotes. This type of twins shares different placentas and umbilical cords, and normally develop two separate amniotic sacs, they will have different chromosomes which determine your baby’s sex and physical traits.
Each Zygote will develop into thousands of several hundred cells known as the blastocyst and burrow into the uterus lining during implantation at week 4.
 Identical Twins
Identical twins occur when one egg is fertilized to form a zygote and split into two to form two embryos (Twins) or three embryos (triplets). This type of twins may share the same placentas or have different placentas, and they may or may not share the same amniotic sacs depending on how early the zygote splits into two. Because they come from the same zygote they will have the same chromosomes which determine your baby’s sex and physical traits, your babies will look alike and be of the same gender.
If a fertilized egg split into two at the earliest stage of development when the zygote is no more than a cluster of cells, then your body at week 3 is now nurturing identical twins.
Your pregnancy at week 3 is not up to a month. You will be one month pregnant in the next week when implantation occurs, after then you will have eight beautiful months to look up to.
