KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchen Recall

Backyard Kids has issued a recall for the KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchen because of a strangulation hazard ⁽¹⁾.

The official recall was announced on July 31, 2025. This is a reminder to parents about the importance of staying alert to potential safety hazards, especially in children’s products.

KidKraft Play Kitchen Recall Overview

Backyard Kids, LLC, based in Texas, is recalling about 192,000 KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchens due to a strangulation and asphyxia hazard. The official recall was announced on July 31, 2025. Though Backyard Kids only sold about 400 units directly to consumers, and 12 units were sold in Canada, they are voluntarily recalling all affected units and offering free replacement hooks. The Recall number is 25-415

The danger comes from the small plastic and metal hooks used to hang toy kitchen accessories. If a child climbs on the counter or crawls through the back opening of the play kitchen, their clothing can get caught on a hook, creating a risk of strangulation. 

Tragically, in February 2023, a 23‑month‑old in Oregon lost his life when his shirt got caught on one of the hooks while he was climbing through the back of the play kitchen. He could not free himself and sadly died from asphyxiation.

This product is designed for pretend play for children ages 3 and older. It is made in black and light gray with wood‑style countertops and measures about 44 inches long, 13 ¾ inches wide, and 43 inches tall ⁽¹⁾. The model number, 53411, is printed on a sticker on the back of the kitchen. They were sold online at KidKraft.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com from 2018 through July 2025 for $120 to $270. They were manufactured in China.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is responsible for enforcing federal safety standards for products, such as the KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchen. Although play kitchens are often treated as children’s toys and furniture, they must still meet strict safety rules.

The most important is ASTM F963, the U.S. toy safety standard. Toys for children under the age of 8 must not have hazardous edges and points, as defined in 16 C.F.R. § 1500.49, before and after use-and-abuse testing⁽²⁾.

In this case, the hooks on the play kitchen that created a strangulation risk violate the Accessible Edges and point section of this standard. ⁽²⁾

What Should Parents Do

If you own this toy, here’s what you should do immediately to protect your child:

• Stop using the toy right away. Do not let your child play with the KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchen.

• Remove the original hooks ⁽¹⁾. These are the cause of the strangulation hazard and should not be used.
