Kelsey Grammer Welcomes Eighth Child At Age 70 With Kayte Walsh

Actor Kelsey Grammer, 70, has welcomed his eighth child, a baby boy named Christopher, with his wife Kayte Walsh, 46. The couple, who have been married since February 2011, now share four children together, Faith (12), Gabriel (10), James (8), and their newest addition, Christopher.

Grammer shared the news during an episode of the Pod Meets World podcast. In his words,

“We just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids... It was like three days ago. Christopher’s just joined the family.”

The birth of Christopher marks another chapter in the actor’s family life, which has continued to draw a lot of attention for its longevity and size. Reports confirm that both mother and baby are doing well.

A Blended Family Across Generations

Grammer’s latest child adds to an already big family. In addition to his four children with Walsh, he has four older children from previous relationships, Spencer (with Doreen Alderman), Greer (with Barrie Buckner), and Mason and Jude (with ex-wife Camille Grammer).

Kayte’s pregnancy became public in June 2025, when she was seen and photographed in London with a visible baby bump. The birth was however, later confirmed the birth through Grammer’s podcast remarks.

Over the years, Grammer has spoken openly about his evolving approach to fatherhood. He has admitted to not being closer enough to his older children due to his demanding career and personal struggles, but has since expressed a commitment to being more present and engaged with his younger family.

In interviews, he has connected his parenting to his past experiences, including the tragic loss of his younger sister Karen in 1975. His memoir, Karen: A Brother Remembers, explores that trauma, though he has said his younger children are not yet ready to read it.

Becoming a father again at 70 has sparked public interest in later-life parenting, especially among popular and high-profile figures. Grammer appeared reflective but cheerful, telling the podcast hosts simply: “Isn’t that lovely?”

While Grammer did not reveal extra details such as the exact birth date or hospital location, outlets including People, AP News, and the New York Post confirmed the time, noting that the baby was born “three days prior” to his announcement.

The actor, best known for portraying Dr. Frasier Crane in Cheers and Frasier, has balanced a long television career with personal growth in recent years. For Walsh, this fourth child continues the family journey that she began with her husband over a decade ago. For Grammer, he is undoubtedly happy about expanding their family, as he previously shared that fatherhood has been one of the most fulfilling roles he has played in life.
