Jessie J’s Baby Sky Brings Joy After Heartbreaking Loss

After losing her baby in November 2021, Jessie J finally shares what it feels like to hold her new baby. The English popstar welcomed her son Sky in May 2023 with her boyfriend, Chanan Safir Colman. It's been a joyful and healing journey.

In an exclusive interview, Jessie J shared how motherhood has changed everything. She called Sky her “happy ending” and said having him healed parts of her she didn’t know were still broken. Jessie J’s baby Sky, didn’t just change her life, he inspired her music too. Her new single, “No Secrets,” tells the story of her pain and strength.

The lyrics begin with, “I lost my baby / But the show must go on, right?” The popstar also mentioned that when writing the track, “Price Tag,” she knew she wanted to have an eye contact conversation with her listeners about her miscarriage through her lyrics.

She said she wanted her fans to know it was about her and all she's been through. That explains her opening lyrics, “We all go through tough things, heartbreak, grief, trauma, and still have to show up and live life.” 

Jessie said she didn't want to sugar-coat anything in her new music. She knew “No Secrets” had to be the first song she released after four years away from music. “It's the kind of song where if it didn't come first, it shouldn't have come at all," she says.

While reflecting on her journey through loss and healing, Jessie said that it breaks her heart that not everyone's going to get their happy ending. “The gratefulness and the joy that I experience every day, waking up knowing he's in my house, and he's alive and well... Until you experience it, it's so hard to really understand. And I never really understood that until I had him,” she added.

Her new single, “Living My Best Life,” which dropped on Friday, May 16, is a reflection of her new chapter. The No secret artist mentioned that when she sings that song, she thinks about all the people that she has lost. “I'm living for them. I wish they could still be here,” she added.

Jessie J and her boyfriend, Chanan Safir Colman, are a team when it comes to raising their son, Sky. They take turns with baby duties and even cook meals together for Sky. Jessie often praises Chanan as a "natural" dad. She shared that he was by her side during Sky's birth, holding her hand the entire time. She even called him the "calm to my crazy" and the "peace to my fear."

While they're not rushing into marriage, they talk about it. Jessie wants to wait until Sky is old enough to understand and be part of the celebration. For now, they're focused on enjoying family life and watching Sky grow. Their journey shows that love, teamwork, and shared responsibilities make a strong family.
